Lawrence Howell Hight-Goggin (He/They) is an installation and sculpture artist with interests in environmental justice, ecology, and biology; based in Chicago, IL.

He incorporates a holistic variety of his academic training by centering second-hand and found material; mending practices; processes that cannot be machine replicated; and themes of environmental collapse, environmental racism, genetic diversity, anti-capitalism, and queer identity.

Through a portfolio ranging from woodworking to growing mold, the artist creates objects and experiences that ask the viewer to consider their role in larger patterns of life that often go unrecognized or ignored. Such as; how the observable utility of genetic diversity within plant species validates queer and disabled experiences, and the bittersweet aftertaste of inheriting a craft associated with care and femininity from a transphobic family member.

They will graduate Columbia College Chicago in December of 2025; double majoring in Fine Art and Environmental Sustainability Studies, with a minor in Biology. When they’re not making art, studying, or working they can be found exploring the outdoors, watching their fish tank, or working as a photographer for their partner’s latest drag show (@ reliquaryrisen on instagram).
